2009 Joint Strategic Planning Retreat

"Building on Our Success Together"

The Joint Strategic Planning Retreat was held on Monday April 20, 2009 at the Marydel Fire Hall. The Developmental Disabilities Council (DDC), the Governor's Advisory Council for Exceptional Citizens (GACEC) and the State Council for Persons with Disabilities (SCPD) along with Transformity Consulting hosted the joint retreat to allow members to collaboratively identify priorities that could be jointly supported across the Councils and within each individual Council.

The Retreat participants were broken into pre-assigned groups and most of the day was spent brainstorming ideas for objectives and priorities, refining and prioritizing the objectives and voting for the workshop objectives felt to be the most important. Lt. Governor, Matt Denn, also made an appearance to discuss House Bill 119 and Part C Stimulus funds. After the discussion, Lt. Governor Denn was able to talk with some the participants. Lt. Governor Denn is pictured below with Diann Jones - DDC Chair and Wendy Strauss - Director of GACEC. They are seen holding art work from the Art Therapy Express Program which provided several pieces to display during this event.

With the exception of the damp weather we all encountered, it was a great day! Participants agreed that this event was a success, very useful and recommended it be held again in the future.
